Academy Alumni Performs with Broadway Star
Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts alumni Olivia Ciaffaglione, recently had the opportunity to backup Broadway legend Kristin Chenoweth. Ciaffaglione, who graduated from GHAA’s musical theater program in 2014, was one of 16 students from the Hartt School who got to perform back-up for Chenoweth during the 12-show-run of "My Letter to Broadway. “
Olivia almost missed out on the opportunity as representatives for Kristen Chenoweth reached out to Hartt vocal instructor Kristin Huffman. Olivia, on the other hand, studies under Tracey Marble. When they realized they were short a soprano, Olivia was suggested by her peers. On the day of the performance, a producer for Kristen Chenoweth asked if anyone would be able to solo riff at the end of the song “I Was Here.” Once again, Ciaffaglione was suggested by her peers.
At the end of the show, Kristen Chenoweth took pictures with the group and spoke with them about the industry. “It was such an incredible experience” said Ciaffaglione.
Olivia Ciaffaglione graduated from the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts in 2014. While at the Academy, she played the lead role of Tracy in Hairspray and as Nettie in Carousel.
