A graduate from the Academy’s Theatre Design and Production Dept. is one of the latest to receive a Helen Hayes Award.  William (Billy) D’Eugenio, class of 2010, has won a 2017 Helen Hayes Award for best lighting design for his work on “World Becomes Flesh” put on by Theatre Alliance. The Helen Hayes awards are awards  given for recognition for excellence in theatre within the Washington DC area. They are named after famed DC actress Helen Hayes, known as the “first lady of American theatre.”

Billy studied technical theater at the Academy in the half day program where his focus was on lighting design.  After Academy, he went to the University of Maryland Baltimore where he continued his studies in lighting design.
