Student Teaching, Internships, and Observations
CREC Schools are proud to help grow and foster the next generation of educators.
We have and will continue to partner with teacher and administrator preparation programs in the following ways:
- Student Teaching Placements
- Administrative and Clinical Internships
- Research Internships
- Classroom Observations
If you are an institution interested in an affiliation with CREC Magnet Schools or have questions regarding our placement process, please contact CREC Schools Coordinator of Special Projects, Meredith Oliveira (she/her) at moliveira@crec.org.
To begin the placement process, candidates are asked to review the handbook below, then complete one of the appropriate applications to the right. (These applications are also linked within the handbook below.)
Typical clinical experience/student teaching placement timeframes:
-
February–March: Students submit applications to their teacher preparation program
-
March–May: University placement coordinators contact CREC and identify cooperating teachers.
-
April–June: Placements are tentatively assigned, and students complete the CREC placement process (which includes a DCF background check and fingerprinting at CREC).
-
End of August: Student teaching begins.
Although CREC will do its best to coordinate all placement requests, CREC suggests that universities submit fall placement requests by May 1 to give time to identify mentor teachers before the start of summer break and the new school year.
