Physical Education

Two individuals, dressed in athletic attire, are engaged in a conversation or interaction in a fitness facility setting, surrounded by various exercise equipment and colorful wall decor.

At CREC we strive to ensure that every child learns the skills necessary to make health enhancing decisions regarding their own health and advocate for changes to help improve the health of individuals in their family, school, community and beyond.  These skills are designed to help our students make healthy decisions to improve their health now and throughout their lifetime.

Grades 9-12

  • Develop Skills for Life: Students will gain activity‑specific movement skills across a variety of lifetime sports, recreational games, and outdoor activities — and create movement sequences in dance and other forms.
  • Build Fitness and Technique: Students will learn and demonstrate proper techniques for cardiovascular fitness, strength and endurance training, flexibility, and other fitness areas that support lifelong health.
  • Apply Knowledge to Movement: Students will understand tactics and strategies for different physical activities and apply movement principles to improve performance and quality of life after high school.
  • Think About Well‑Being: Students will evaluate how physical activity, rest, heart rate, nutrition, and technology relate to health and activity performance.
  • Practice Social and Safety Skills: Students will show respect, teamwork, etiquette, safety awareness, and empathy during activities and work with others to solve movement‑related challenges.
  • Choose and Enjoy Activity: Students will select and participate in physical activities that support self‑expression, social interaction, personal interests, and health benefits now and beyond graduation.
  • Set Goals and Reflect: Students will set meaningful movement goals, reflect on their experiences, and consider how physical activity can be part of a healthy lifestyle after high school.
  • Understand Broader Contexts: Students will explore the cultural, historical, and personal value of different physical activities and apply that knowledge to make thoughtful activity choices.
